The
African American Network of the Poconos is an organization whose
mission is to improve the quality of life for its members through
networking, economic development, and promoting unity among the
community residing in and around the Pocono Mountain area.
We strive to accomplish this mission by
addressing educational, political, social, cultural and economic
mandates as directed and implemented by its members. Membership is open
to all people.
The African American Network of the Poconos was
founded in 1995 by our first president, who saw a need to connect with
and to inform newly arriving residents to the area. The African
American Network of the Poconos stays actively involved in community
activities; thus allowing our members to work towards achieving our
mission through connecting people and sharing information.
Some of our
sponsored events include celebrations for Black History Month,
Juneteenth and Kwanzaa, business seminars, dinner dances, and youth
activities. We are always looking for volunteers to help us achieve our
mission.
Meetings are held the
third Saturday of each month at the Hughes
Eastern Monroe Public Library, 1002 North 9th St., Stroudsburg, PA
18360 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
